The last Ferrari to have a turbocharged mid-engine V8 was the iconic Ferrari F40 more than two decades ago. Indeed, it has been 40 years since Ferrari’s first ever mid-engined V8, the beautiful 308 GTB. So when it designed the new 488 GTB, it had some big shoes to fill. Luckily, it’s done so – and then some.

With 661bhp under the hood, 0-62mph will take three seconds flat. A top speed of 205mph is impressive, too – but what really catches our attention is its recorded track times. Apparently it’s lapped the Fiorano test track in just 1 minute 23 seconds. That’s two seconds quicker than the mighty Enzo. And it's the sexiest thing we've seen in a long time.
