Driven To Do Better is a photo exhibition curated by Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button. The two British F1 stars chose their 50 favourite photos from over 60 years of British Grands Prix.
The iconic images in the exhibition include Nigel Mansell giving arch-rival Ayrton Senna a lift back to the pits on the sidepod of his car after an emotional win in 1991; Graham Hill arriving for work on a monkey bike; Daily Express journalist Bob McKenzie running the track in silver body paint after losing a bet with McLaren Chairman Ron Dennis; and, of course, Sir Stirling Moss carrying the nation’s hopes in his British-built Vanwall.
At the launch, Jenson admitted his favourite shot was of fellow playboy James Hunt celebrating his victory topless, revealing a freshly shaven chest – “What a legend,” applauded Jenson. Lewis admitted that he may have had something to do with the selection of a photo of the 2008 winner celebrating on the podium – one Mr Lewis Hamilton.
The free two-week exhibition is on at the Getty Images Gallery until 16th July.
