If you're familiar with Martin Parr's photography, you'll know that much of his work aims to find poetry in the mundane. His latest exhibition is no different, focusing on highfalutin events throughout the City's last three mayoralties, including banquets, processions and more.
The resulting exhibition catches many of the subjects off-guard, providing a unique look behind some of the quirkiest events in the City. "This major exhibition opens up the City of London in a way never before seen," says Guildhall's curator Katherine Pearce. "Martin Parr’s photographs allow everyone – both from outside and within the City – an unprecedented behind-the-scenes view into this ancient and dynamic place."
You can see the photographs in Unseen City, which runs from March to July at the Guildhall Art Gallery.
