The corporate lawyer at Clifford Chance, and President and Trustee of the UK’s leading school breakfast club charity Magic Breakfast, will be carrying the Torch on 20th June in Bedale, in his home county of Yorkshire.
Mr Mak was selected as a Torchbearer for his work with Magic Breakfast, which provides a free healthy breakfast to 6000 British primary schoolchildren every morning in 210 schools. Magic Breakfast won the Prime Minister’s Big Society Award in September 2011 for outstanding charities, and Mr Mak has been recognised by Samsung, the sponsor of the Olympic Torch Relay, as a “local hero who goes the extra mile” with his contribution to the community.
“I’m proud and honoured to be carrying the Olympic Torch on behalf of Magic Breakfast,” said Mr Mak. “I hope my involvement will raise awareness of Magic Breakfast’s fight against child hunger and poverty in London.
“The children, parents and teachers we work with are a great inspiration to me and I’ll be thinking of them when I carry the Torch.”
