Ronan Sayburn, master sommelier at The Dorchester shares five tips thatll have you wine tasting like an old pro1.Taste...
On the first Sunday of each month up until February 2012, the J Sheekey Oyster Bar will be hosting a series of speakeasies. For dinner, a £30 seasonal menu is accompanied with live performances from musicians and comedians, the most recent of which did whole musical plays, made up on the spot, from audience suggestions.
However, don't for a minute think that the entertainment is the only reason to head over, the food is delightful. As expected J Sheekey do oysters rather well, the Strangford Lock oysters being particularly good. If you're not in the mood for shellfish then the spice-cured salmon with asparagus is a great alternative, it may not break any new ground but that doesn't stop it being delicious.
And be sure to try the impressive selection of cocktails while you're there. We were particularly impressed with the 'Twinkle'. Don't let the name fool you, the mix of vodka, champagne and elderflower is tasty enough to keep you ordering more and potent enough to ensure you wobble, rather than walk, home.
Located on St Martin’s Court in the heart of Covent Garden, J Sheekey Oyster Bar is situated next to its alma mater, J Sheekey, one of the most iconic fish restaurants in London. It’s reservation only, so make sure you call ahead.
