After the outrage caused by August’s Square Mile Summer Festival for bankers, which caused the Daily Mail to brand the event “a display of Bacchanalian excess”, last night 500 of London’s wealthiest bankers and hedge fund managers paid £5,000 for tables at the Square Mile Masked Ball.

The event was hosted by Boris Johnson and attended by celebrities including Brigitte Nielsen, Sacha Jafri (award-winning artist, whose painting featuring the handprints of every living UK Olympic gold medallist went to one banker for £50k in the charity auction) and Martin Bayfield (ex-England Rugby World Cup star).

The sight of the Mayor of London leaving with two girls on stilts dressed as Marie Antoinette caused absolutely no speculation whatsoever.
