The competition invites you to create your dream design for a Single Speed Bike on Foffa Bike’s website. Once your design is complete you need to Print Screen and paste your design on to the IG London Nocturne Facebook page in the Foffa Bikes Design Competition Album for it to be submitted to the competition.
Entries will be collated during the build up to this year’s IG London Nocturne, which is taking place on Saturday 9 June.
Five entries will be shortlisted a week before the event, based on the number of likes each design receives on the site, and one lucky winner will be picked on the night of the Nocturne at Smithfield Market by the event organisers and sponsors. The winner of the competition will have their own design worth up to £1,000, built by the Foffa Bikes team and delivered shortly after the event. Prizes will also be awarded to the 2nd and 3rd places.
Team Sky cyclist Alex Dowsett said, “The IG London Nocturne last year was one of, if not the highlight of my racing career. It wasn't just because I personally had one of the best races I've ever had, but because of the atmosphere at the event, crowds 2-3 deep the whole way around the circuit giving tremendous support. It was also easily accessible for my family and with the variety of events I had no chance to get super nervous before my race as there was always something going on.
“Due to how the IG London Nocturne's final race went for me I decided to design my Foffa Bike based on what has been my inspiration to race right from the start; my father Phil Dowsett. He was a racing driver and his stories always made me think in the future ‘what am I going to impress my kids with?’ So I went for a racing car themed frame, deep wheels, Rolls saddle and Bull Bars because I'm a time triallist at heart. I have added a red chain to represent my suffering from Haemophilia with red being the signature colour for the disorder.”
James Pope, Founder of the Nocturne, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Foffa Bikes on the event and launching this exciting design competition with riders like Alex. As a brand and manufacturer of bikes, Foffa Bikes epitomises style and creativity in cycling, which is becoming more and more important in the drive to get greater numbers of people out on a bike.
“We would like as many people as possible to have a go at entering the competition, regardless of artistic ability, as everyone has the same chance of winning when the shortlist is based on Likes.”
The Foffa Bikes competition forms part of an action packed programme for the night of the IG London Nocturne which includes high speed elite racing, penny farthings, a longest skid competition and the legendary folding bike race. The best of British and international cycling will be on display and the event will provide the nation with a chance to see top international riders compete before the Olympics. A new addition this year will be the IG City Criterium where five-man teams from leading city businesses will be looking to emulate the pros and claim the title as fastest company in the Square Mile.
The IG London Nocturne – which is free to attend for spectators – is not only for those on two wheels, as it will be hosting a whirl of entertainment on the circuit to create a mini cycling festival in the heart of the city. Local bars and restaurants around Smithfield Market become part of the event with food and drinks promotions fuelling the party. Spectators can also interact with the numerous displays and trade stands in the expo areas while watching the action on big screens.
Approximately 45,000 people have attended the Nocturne Series since its inception in 2007. Full details can be found at www.londonnocturne.com. To enter the competition visit facebook.com/TheNocturneSeries
